On March 4th, School of Chinese Languages and Literatures of Lanzhou University and Confucius Institute at the Anton de Kom University of Suriname jointly held the opening ceremony of a cultural series of lectures online. Chen Aifeng, the Chinese president of the Confucius Institute, Fu Xiang, director of the International Exchange and Cooperation Department of Zhejiang Sci-Tech University, Li Lifang and Guo Maoquan, dean and vice dean of the School of Chinese Languages and Literatures of Lanzhou University, Li Chunlin, vice dean of the School of International Cultural Exchange of Lanzhou University, Deng Wenjing and Zeng Fang,director and deputy director of the Center of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages, secretary Xi Xiaofei, teacher representatives of the Confucius Institute and more than 30 student volunteers from Lanzhou University attended the event. The opening ceremony was presided over by Chen Aifeng.
At the opening ceremony, Chen Aifeng played a video speech by Shelley Soetosenojo, the foreign dean of Confucius Institute at the Anton de Kom University of Suriname. Shelley expressed her honor to cooperate with Lanzhou University to jointly promote the development of international Chinese education, and hoped to take this cultural lecture as an opportunity to make joint efforts for more cooperation projects between the two sides in the future. Director Fu Xiang introduced Zhejiang Sci-Tech University's progress in the construction of Confucius Institute, the spread of silk culture, international Chinese education, etc. He hoped to have extensive cooperation with the School of Chinese Languages and Literatures of Lanzhou University in the future, especially in the field of international Chinese education.
Li Lifang expressed her vision of cooperation with Confucius Institute at the Anton de Kom University of Suriname and Zhejiang Sci-Tech University, and introduced the school-running history, discipline characteristics, talent cultivation achievements of the major“Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages” , and the development plan of the School in the field of international Chinese education during the 14th Five-Year Plan period of the School of Chinese Languages and Literatures of Lanzhou University. She hoped that the three parties would further strengthen cooperation with talent cultivation as a link in the future, especially in promoting in-depth communication between teachers and students.
Chen Aifeng introduced the background of cooperation between Confucius Institute at the Anton de Kom University of Suriname and the School of Chinese Languages and Literatures of Lanzhou University, especially the specific planning and preparation of this project. Deng Wenjing introduced the construction goal and future cooperation direction of this project, introduced the efforts made by volunteers majoring in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Language to carry out the project well, and put forward clearer hopes for students' future work. Li Chunlin, Vice President, introduced the basic situation of the Confucius Institute in Lanzhou University and the training of overseas students, hoping to strengthen cooperation and exchanges with Confucius Institute at the Anton de Kom University of Suriname in the future.
Finally, teachers and volunteers from both sides exchanged views on the follow-up lectures.
It is reported that in order to promote the cultural exchange between China and foreign countries, improve the teaching ability of Chinese international education postgraduates, and expand the new mode of practical teaching, the School of Chinese Languages and Literatures of Lanzhou University organized volunteers to conduct a series of online cultural lectures for the Confucius Institute at the Anton de Kom University of Suriname. The lecture is divided into six themes, namely, Modern life, Chinese art, Chinese cities, Chinese cooking, Chinese history and the Zodiac. Each theme has 12 contents. The lectures will be held once a week by means of video recording and live explanation, to show the Surinamese people the true, three-dimensional and rich Chinese culture. The first activity will be held on March 12th, with the themes of Modern China: Diet Life and Chinese Art: Chinese Characters and Calligraphy.
The successful opening ceremony of this cultural lecture series marks a new stage of inter-hospital cooperation between Confucius Institute at the Anton de Kom University of Suriname and the School of Chinese Languages and Literatures of Lanzhou University, and provides a new opportunity for the School to expand its overseas education practice base for professional degrees. The activities to be carried out by both sides in the future will help international Chinese education, promote Chinese culture to go out, and enhance mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples.
