On the evening of September 24th, the School of Chinese Languages and Literatures held the opening ceremony of Grade 2021 students in C302, Tianshan Hall, Yuzhong Campus. All leadership team members of the School, alumni representatives, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of Gansu province bidding consulting group, chairman of the board of supervisors and chairman of the trade union of Gansu Province, Ju Youcheng, teachers' representatives, freshmen's head teachers, full-time and part-time counselors and deputy head teachers, as well as 2021 undergraduates, postgraduates and doctoral students attended the ceremony. The ceremony was presided over by Zhao Bingqian, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Chinese Languages and Literatures.

    The ceremony kicked off with teachers, students and alumni singing the national anthem.

    Dean Li Lifang, on behalf of the School, welcomed 267 new students to the big family. She hoped that the freshmen would stand on the land under their feet, start from feeling and thinking about "My University", and realize, build, inherit and develop the connotation of "Lanzhou University" in practice; Enter the hall of Chinese, start with "awe of words", and carefully read, think, write and express; Treat every day and every moment with heart, cherish the youth, and be steady and far-reaching.

    Vice President Guo Maoquan gave a comprehensive and detailed introduction to the college from eight aspects: development history, institutional setup, team building, discipline and specialty building, scientific research, undergraduate education, postgraduate education and student exchange.

    In his speech, Ren Sixing, a 2021 freshman representative and an undergraduate in a Strong Foundation Class of Ancient Philology, said that she would interpret the title of "Lan Da Ren" with self-discipline, optimism and love; Xu Tao, a 2021 freshman delegate and doctoral student in Literature and Art, combined with his seven-year study career in Lanzhou University, shared his learning and growth experience from the following aspects: "study extensively, inquire prudently, think carefully, distinguish clearly, practice earnestly", "strong shoulder to bear justice, skill fingers to write articles". Arman Irene, a senior student representative and a master student majoring in Comparative Literature and World Literature in 2019, encouraged freshmen to define their own development direction and shoulder heavy responsibilities, and realize their life value through hard work.

    Professor Lei Enhai, the representative of teachers, talked about the principle of university with the key words of "strengthen self without stopping", "hold world with virtue" and "harmony without difference". He hoped that freshmen will explore richer and more profound contents in the process of professional study, enhance their thinking ability and innovative consciousness, and promote their all-round growth.

    Alumni Ju Youcheng explained the importance of "language" by taking his own experience as an example, and encouraged students to refuse to "slack off", constantly improve their comprehensive quality, and improve their employability and career development ability.

    Han Jie, Party Secretary, hoped the new students to cultivate moral, be healthy and progressive, devote themselves to studying and thinking, study diligently, look to the world, climb the peak bravely, and constantly enhance their ambition, confidence and backbone. He encouraged freshmen to enhance their self-confidence, condense their youthful wisdom and forge ahead into a new journey to realize the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, walk with the new era, advance together, and hand over their own satisfactory answers.

    At the ceremony, teachers and students watched the college propaganda film Wenyuan Yinghua together. The appointment ceremony of the class teacher, part-time counselor and deputy class teacher was held. Lian Yamin, deputy secretary and vice president, read out the appointment documents, Han Jie and Li Lifang issued the appointment letters for the employed teachers and students.

           After the ceremony, the Undergraduate Education Conference on Joining the Party and the Postgraduate Education Conference on Style of Study were held respectively.
